Commonwealth Hosts Free Webinar on Distribution Center Design with WERC and CSCMP

Dec 17, 2015

Commonwealth Supply Chain Advisors’ managing director, Ian Hobkirk will host a complimentary webinar titled Confidently Committing to a Distribution Center Design – When Demand is Unpredictable on December 17 at noon eastern. Presented by the Central Florida Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, in conjunction with the WERC Florida Council, the virtual event will show companies how to develop an analytical distribution center (DC) design tool capable of “what if” analysis and determine which distribution technologies are the most – and the least – adaptable during changing business conditions.

With many companies experiencing growth over the last few years, yet reluctant to make major changes to their DCs due to unpredictable demand, Hobkirk’s presentation will help attendees break through some of those barriers, assess their needs, and make solid business decisions in 2016. After the last decade of change, it seems the only thing certain is uncertainty about growth levels, rising numbers of SKUs, e-commerce, and a host of other factors. If the passage of time has not made the future any clearer, then the best course of action for growing companies is to invest in flexible technology and designs that can rapidly scale up, scale down, or be reconfigured to meet future needs.

Over his career, Hobkirk has helped hundreds of companies align their distribution center capabilities with evolving business needs. Through improved warehouse design and the application of technology, he reduces warehouse costs, improves service levels, and optimizes the use of space. Hobkirk formed supply chain consulting organizations for two different systems integration firms, and managed the supply chain execution practice at The Aberdeen Group, a leading technology analyst firm. He’s a national speaker and writer and his opinions are regularly featured in publications such as The Journal of Commerce, Supply Chain Management Review, Supply Chain Quarterly, DC Velocity, The Wall Street Journal, and Modern Materials Handling.

The Confidently Committing to a DC Design – When Demand is Unpredictable webinar will take place December 17 at noon eastern. The recorded webinar will be available to view on December 20th and can be accessed on Commonwealth’s website: www.commonwealth-sca.com.
